The Bishop Baraga Association Mission Statement: To make Bishop Baraga known to all people, use his example of Catholic Faith to instill the love of God in others, and preserve materials pertaining to his life with our ultimate goal to glorify God by honoring his name with the title of Saint. The Bishop Baraga Association is funded entirely by donations from members. Our Goals #1 Ways to Promote the Cause of Bishop Baraga for Sainthood. Distribution of printed materials and awareness – no charge. To establish a website to increase the awareness of the heroic virtues & faith of Bishop Baraga. www.fredericbaraga.org Increase Membership in the Baraga Bulletin by 5% per year (1997 – 1,602 members in current membership 3,640 – 728 members from the “UP”) Sell items relating to the life of Bishop Baraga, mugs, cards, books, key chains, T-shirts
#2 Educate people on the life of Bishop Baraga. We offer presentations. Provide materials, books, writings and copies of his letters. Encourage researchers Create informative publication in the quarterly Baraga Bulletin Sell books on Bishop Baraga
#3 Plan an Annual Remembrance & Celebration of Bishop Baraga. Attendance at Bishop Baraga Days Calumet – 450 people Create committees and include them in our planning, so that local people are exposed to the life of Bishop Baraga.
#4 Preserve the Materials pertinent to the life of Bishop Baraga. Follow archival procedures for the archives Inventory contents of vault, create indexes Increase holding in the collection Index and readily make materials accessible Make the best use of climate control space for Baraga Materials
#5 Prepare for the Sainthood of Bishop Baraga. Celebrate Masses in honor of Bishop Baraga in the Bishop's Crypt – generally 3 rd Monday of the month. Remain informed about processes for Sainthood & other causes. Encourage reports of alleged miracles through the intercession of Bishop Baraga.
